Piaţa Veche – Cetate – “La Zeus” – Piatra Despicată– Piatra Corbului – “Caluţ” – Tăul Brazi – Tăul Mare – Piaţa Veche From Piata Veche (Old Market), which is a good bench-mark for start, you go down on the asphalted road about 150 meters until you see a equiped road which turns left. You go up that road ( motorcade of Rosiamin state gold mining). You go up that road until you can see the Cetate quarry in right, to which you go, but you do not enter it. Then you go right, on the quarry edge. You keep the road right, and then you go straight until you see the so called “La Zeus” zone. From here, the road forks into another road where you can see some rocks with roman galleries on the suface. From those rocks you can watch a great panaroma of Rosia Montana . For return, you follow the same road for getting out of Cetate. If you keep up the main road, you will see another crossroad. From there, on the right we can see Corna Valley . For keeping the range, you should keep left, going up. In front you will find another crossroad and a part of a rock with a stone cross, called Piatra Despicata, an important nature monument for Rosia Montana . (continuare)
The history of this stone is not known yet, not even geological, as we don't know the way it appeard on Carnic Massive. It has a different composition comparing to the other rocks of the massif. The only place where you can find the same kind of rock is the Rotund Peak . From the Piatra Despicata you go up on the right; on the left you can see parts of roman works and on the right Corna Valley with Corna Lake . Going further you can see Piatra Corbului, another natural monument. The name of this monument derives from its form, which is a raven head. For tourists, the most convenient way is to go up the road, until they find a crossroads with four roads. The one in front goes to Rosia Poieni, the one in left goes to Brazi Lake , another one to Carnic Massive and Piatra Corbului. This road ends and you go up on a path to Piatra Corbului. From here you take right to Calut, which is a rock in the middle of Carnic Massive. It has a wood cross on it, a sign of miners' religiosity. You come back on the same road until the crossroad, where you go down to Brazi Lake . At a certain time you will find a halting place. You go on the right way from tha halt, until you will see the lake. The return will be on the main road. On the road you will se anoyher crossroad. On the right you will see a patrimony house, but you will turn left, for continuing the range on the main road (there will be little roads on the left and on the right but you must keep the main road). Then you will see a crossroad. You will continue on the right, passing in front of a big house on the road to Taul Mare. If you keep the road you will find another crossroad with a road that goes down and one that goes up to the pond. You keep the right road to Taul Mare. You will return until the first crossroad and you go right. On the right you see Jig-Vadoaia Rocks. You go down on the road under the rocks, reaching to the main road, where you go down and enter “the sicillian street” where you will be impressed by the old XVIII's century patrimony houses. From here you go down to Rosia Montana , Piata Veche (Old Market), the place you started.
